While I may be slightly winter weary, I must admit that daybreak on the icy river stops me cold.
The ice is beginning to move, pushing back against the beach, staking its claim along the frozen ridges.
It won't win. Spring will come. Water will flow.

Whow, that's some expanse of ice but great to see you have sunshine.
the ice looks almost like frozen waves! beautiful light at dawn.
what lovely photos with the sun reflecting in all shades of gold
Great photos!!!Thanks for sharing, have a nice SWF!!!
You are so confident! It might be easy for people with weather like that to not be able to even fathom Spring! Wonderful pictures. I love the golden light. When I first saw the top picture, I thought it was the beach--the ice pushing up looked like a wave against the shore. But it didn't quite look right, so I looked more closely. What a contrast to what I thought it was!
What a wonderful sight! All the better for knowing that it can't last for ever.
The light is lovely! Since we can't make winter go away just yet, I'd like an inch of new snow to cover up the old yucky stuff. ;-)
Cold and clear, but spring is on the way. The days are getting longer and here in Northern California, the daffodils are starting to bloom.
The image of the sunrise is beautiful...Thomas
...beautiful post...narration and photos! It totally gives me hope. I'm slightly winter weary also....6-8 more inches of snow is on the way tonight and tomorrow. It will be beautiful as it falls...... You're so lucky to live so close to the river.
nice words and photos. what beautiful light! and i like the owl stained glass too...it was made for that sunshine!
It is all very elemental, and staked out. A time for every purpose under heaven ...
