Conserving Heat

When it's -15C and you're getting just a tad tired of winter,
then it's time to head to the tropics.
In Toronto, that means heading to the Allen Gardens Conservatory,
a downtown Victorian glass palace filled with summer.
The five crystal rooms of the conservatory are filled with tropical plants, cactus, succulents, and all manner of lovely, sweet smelling flowers.
I learned of this treasure through a blog that I follow
called Living on the Edge, http://caro-on-the-islands.blogspot.com/
Thanks Carolyn!

I've become a big fan!

Did you notice that the ladder thing on the roof is on a track and moves ... great idea.

Isn't this a gem? Were you just there? I wandered inside to get out of a snow squall last week!

I just absolutely adore these glass conservatories! They're such wonderful structures! Aside from the beautiful plants inside, of course. :)

Happy Friday and happy weekend!

This is such a beautiful building. If I had to live in your cold climate I would have spent many hours in here.

I guess a fancy greenhouse is called a conservatory. Nice to go somewhere warm - what a lovely place.

Isn't it nice to find summer in the winter. I notice the building shade has kept winter in the front of the building. Great post.

...you're totally reading my mind. I was hoping to get down to the Krohn Conservatory in Cincy this weekend, but the crazy snow will probably keep me at home. I'm ready for some hot, steamy air and the conservatory can deliver! I love the architecture.....it's beautiful.

Marvelous idea to lift one's spirits in the dead of winter. The building itself is quite beautiful, so I can only imagine how much more glorious the inside must be with all those wondrous plants! ;)

Looks like a delightful place to spend a winter afternoon enjoying those little natural treasures all out of season.
